Whistler to Ban Bottled Water: The Right Decision?

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has made some changes to their parks and mountains.  According to their article, bottled water will not be sold at mountains.
Their article is here.  Not only that, they have eliminated bottled water in all municipal structures and parks since May 1st of this year.  I don't have to regurgitate the article, I'm sure you are capable of reading it.
Now whether they are doing the right thing or not can be debated.  I personally feel that this is a HUGE step forward for winter sports and our effort to preserve mountains.  You may not realize it but there are so many ways that bottled water production affects whether you can snowboard/ski 15 years from now.  And even where you will be riding.
Bottled water should be banned on the mountain and for good reason.  Let's start with indirect reasons.  For one bottles are made from petroleum, a.k.a oil.  I don't need to go here, you know the deal with oil, and all the environmental impacts.  You are also smart enough to put it together and realize that all these negative impacts on the environment kills our sport.  We play outside and we need to protect our playground!  It is a waste of oil, especially considering that so many "bottled water" companies have been found to deliver less than they promise in that bottle.  You pretty much get tap water jacked up on minerals.
Direct impacts to not only our planet but our mountains is disgusting.  I'm sure we have all been to resorts and been disgusted at finding bottles and garbage all over the resort, and worse on the slopes!!! If I ever see you throw a bottle on any mountain in this galaxy I will personally bitch-slap you with my board...edge first.  Due to egocentric dirtbags our mountains get destroyed every season.  This will keep a lot of trash off the slopes.
Of course you still want to have water with you at the mountain, which is cool.  That is why according to RMOW Canada has some of the safest water in the world.  They test it daily! Plus, this saves you so much money I mean $3 for 12oz of water is drug prices!!!
I don't want to hear your prissy "but I need Fiji water, and my makeup, and Dog in a Bag."  You came to a mountain.  If you are here, you want to be close to nature so you can bring a reusable bottle such as a water bladder, canteen, or sports bottle.  If drinking tap water or bringing your own bothers you too much, you shouldn't be snowboarding in the first place; hang out Rodeo Dr.
Thank you Resort Municipality of Whistler and the country of Canada for taking this step.  It means a lot and will keep future generations enjoying your mountains as we do today.
Also the picture above is a link to credits a great article on what has been found in these "purified" bottled waters.  Read it as well, and maybe you will change your mind next time you buy a Poland Spring.
You can help by spreading awareness through the sharing links below or just telling people what their impact is.  Thank you for helping us ride our mountains year after year.
